The tors of Dartmoor have always drawn me toward them - as if there is some strange presence there - benevolent I might add - waiting to welcome me home. When I began to experience distress during the late 90s, I went alone to Dartmoor with just a backpack and a bivy bag. The first night I slept alone in the middle of this wild landscape, nestled in beside the granite rock-face - awaking early with ice inside the bag! Pure bliss . .
